Experiences of Arthroscopic Surgery

Abstract
Arthroscopy of the knee joint is an essential diagnostic and therapeutic procedure of the knee joint lesions because of its simplicity, safety and high diagnostic accuracy.
We reviewed 21 cases who underwent arthroscopic surgery of the knee in Chonnam University Hospital from May 1985 to December 1987. The results were as follows;
1. 10 cases of the 21 patients(47.6%) were active young persons. (2130 year of age)
2. 3 cases of the 21 arthroscopies (14.2 %) could avoid unnecessary arthrotomy.
3. Of the 21 arthroscopic surgeries, 8 cases were synovial lesions, 6 miniscule lesions, 2 loose bodies, 3 articulator cartilage lesions, and 2 degenerative lesions.
4. Arthroscopy was thought to be very useful and essential for the diagnosis and treatment of the knee joint lesions.
